  • 1884:Benjamin Bénéteau founds his own shipyard and begins building wooden sail-based fishing boats.
  • 1912: Bénéteau introduces the first motor-driven fishing boats.
  • 1964:André Bénéteau and sister Annette Roux take over as head of the company and enter the fiberglass-based pleasure craft market.
  • 1984:Bénéteau goes public on the Paris stock exchange.
  • 1986:Bénéteau opens a new modern shipbuilding facility in France and establishes its first international facility, in South Carolina in the United States.
  • 1992:The company acquires Construction Navale Bordeaux, a maker of aluminum-based fishing and service craft.
  • 1995:The company acquires rival Jeanneau SA, doubling in size; the O'Hara Houses subsidiary is launched.
  • 1997:The company acquires Wauquiez, a sailing yacht maker in France.
  • 2001:The company acquires 57 percent of Ostroda, a maker of motor-driven boats in Poland.
  • 2003:The company forms the Duboats joint venture with the Bin Zayed Group of United Arab Emirates to enter the Mideast market.
