Ian Cook is the Managing Director of international award-winning superyacht building company Yachting Developments.
Ian is nationally recognised as President of the Marine Industry Association of New Zealand, a former board member of ICOMIA (International Council of Marine Industry Associations), a former board member of the New Zealand Marine Export Group and the previous Chairman of the apprenticeship training organisation BITO.
Ian is a true boating enthusiast, an innovative master boatbuilder with over 35 years experience in the New Zealand boat building industry with 22 of these years running his own company.
As a dedicated yachtsman, Ian has been involved in, and supported countless New Zealand yachting events both home and offshore, regularly featuring at international boat shows and regattas.
Ian has an appreciation for both new and old, personally instrumental in the refit and restoration of several historical New Zealand vessels including his favourite, the sailing icon of the Waitemata Harbour, A Class Ranger.
Ian's early build projects included the construction of various Round the World (Whitbread) race yachts and America's Cup contenders.
Through a blend of composite race boat technology and superyacht quality, Ian continues to grow Yachting Developments impressive portfolio of outstanding superyachts including the construction of Bliss, the largest composite sailing sloop ever built in the southern hemisphere and the historic J Class Endeavour's 2011 extensive refit.
