In realtà, agli inizi, la società Americana BLACK WATCH COMPANY con sede in Little Harbor Landing, Portsmouts, Rod Island, era una "trade company" ed era proprietaria dei progetti e stampi delle imbarcazioni che venivano costruite dal cantiere Little Harbour Yachts di TED WOOD nella sua sede sempre a Portsmouts, Rod Island.
Nel 1988 la società ha venduto gli stampi ad una società Australiana che ha continuato con successo la produzione in Australia.
